Since there is not going to be any more National Pepsi Tournaments, my goal is going to be to qualify for Jr. Gold. I have to keep up an average of 165 for like 21 weeks in league or something like that. I don't think it should be too hard when I shot a 185 average at the State Pepsi Tourney & an average of 181 at the National Pepsi Tourney.
It's finally donee.
I got knocked out 2nd round. I didn't miss my average or anything. I got out rolled & the girls had more handicap than me.
At least I made it this far.
OMG... National Pepsi Tourney update!
I'm really really sorry, but this is gonna be kinda long. I don't know where to begin.
Before I do begin, I just have to say this: My actual average is about a 140-145. I bowled a 185 average at the State Pepsi Tournament, so they had to rerate my average. So I came to Nationals with a 164 average.
I get to the bowling alley this morning, super nervous. I just can't sit still at all because I just can't take all the pressure that was on me. This is my very first National tournament ever. Practice starts, & I do decent. I get kinda relaxed that I did very well for practice. The first qualifying round begins. We have to bowl 4 games. I bowled a 134 my first game. I get kinda put down. I mean, I bowled very well in practice, so why did I bowl terrible my first game? Next, I shot a 205. I get my energy up, I'm pumped & ready to go on. After that, I shot a 180. A little lower than my 2nd game, but still over my average. I end off the 1st round with a 150.... 14 pins below my average. I get a lil mad. After a while I find out I was in 26th place. 33 pins down from 16th place & 10 places down. I get pretty ticked off.
We had an hour or so to do whatever before the bowling seminar & I bowl again. So we go to McDonalds. I could barely eat because I was just so nervous.
We get back to the bowling alley & I go to the bowling Seminar. It was really cool. I learned a ton of stuff.
2nd qualifying rounds starts. I go into it knowing that I have to do my absolute best. I had to go up 10 places. I start it off with a 180 game. I'm pretty pumped. 2nd game, my heart is racing. My first 3 fames were strikes. Then I left a 10pin & opened on it. Next, I shoot 5 strikes in a row. 10th frame, I left 4 pins & opened up. Leaving me with a 227. After those 2 games, I jump up to 13th place. I'm trying not to get too cocky because I know if I do, I'll throw away my games & the tournament. After that, I throw a 160. I'm kinda worried because I was 4 pins down of my average. I didn't really have any room for errors. Last game. I'm just really stressed out. It's the last game of the qualifying rounds. I had to prove myself there. It was my time to shine. I throw a 213 game, striking out 9th & 10th frame.
After I had that amazing 4 game round, we had to wait. It seemed like forever. The longest 20 minutes ever. They finally update the standings. My coach was hoping that I would be on the first screen. I wasn't. My stomach just drops. The next screen pops up. My name was at the very top of it. 10th place. I start screaming so loud. So were my mom, bowling coach, & my 2 friends. Everyone is just looking at us wondering what was wrong. That's when they all realized that the standings were updated.
Tomorrow I bowl in the Finals. It's gonna be head to head. Double elimination. Top 4 get scholarships. No words can describe how I feel right now. I really wanna thank everyone that supported me. & if you read all of this, thanks<3
Omg...
It's finally here. I'm finally in Detroit waiting to bowl in the National Pepsi Tournament. This is like amazing to me. I can't believe I have made it this far. The roadtrip up here was a blast. 18 hours in a car! We went to the Bowling Museum & Hall of Fame in St. Louis. We will probably go to it again on the way back home.
Today: I sign in at 9-9:30am. Then I have a photo session, opening ceremonies, & a practice session.
Tuesday: I bowl the first qualifying round[4 games] at 9am-noon. Then I have to go to a Brunswick Seminar. After that I bowl in the second qualifying round[4 games] at 3pm-6pm.
Wednesday: Top 16 Single Game – Double Elimination Finals at 9am-noon. After that is the awards on the lanes. Then later the Awards dinner & Carnival.
I really do hope that I do very well in this tournament. I have so much confindence in myself right now, it's crazy. I have my friends, mom & bowling coach here to support me. Then all my friends back home & in other states are cheering me on & supporting me. =]
